Our Approach to Exotic Wellness

Because most exotic health issues stem from environmental factors, our wellness visits go far beyond a simple physical exam.

  • Husbandry and habitat including lighting, temperature, bedding

  • Behavior Counseling and handling
  • Vaccinations for ferrets
  • DNA Sexing of patients
  • Metal band removal for birds
  • Beak trim/repair, nail trim, wing clipping
  • Prevention: Early diagnostics to catch “hidden” illnesses before they progress
  • USDA license for travel

Including but not limited to the management and treatment of:

  • Gastrointestinal Stasis small mammals
  • Oral/dental disease including tooth root abscess, overgrown teeth
  • Bladder stones/sludge
  • Pododermatitis (foot sores)
  • Chronic ear disease
  • Destructive feather picking of birds
  • Reproductive disorders including egg binding, hormone therapy
  • Adrenal disease and insulinomas in ferrets
  • Shell repair of turtles/tortoises
  • Metabolic bone disease of reptiles
  • Infectious disease testing

If you notice your pet is not eating well, breathing rapidly or labored breathing, lethargic, weak, constipated or having diarrhea, vomiting or regurgitating, if your bird is fluffed up or staying at the bottom of the cage (not perching), falling over, losing weight, contact us.
